In that city there was a terrible dragon who daily grabbed people or animals and devoured them. When the king failed to kill the dragon, according to his own command, everyone should send their child to eat the dragon. When his daughter's turn came, George the Great, still leader of Diocletian's military unit, offered to kill the Dragon if everyone, the King, Princess and people, embraced the Christian religion. After the dragon was exterminated, Saint George summoned Bishop Alexander and baptized all the people, king and lords, forty-five thousand in all.
